Petite Peeve

Here's a New Year's resolution suggestion for annoying, clustering, clingy fools:

If you go to a matinée in a movie theater, where there are only a handful of individuals trying to eat their popcorn in peace, try not to sit next to another patron. Better yet, get your own row.

If you're at the gym, where there's a whole row of assorted cardio equipment, don't get on the elliptical trainer right next to someone. Branch out, give people their space. It's tough enough dragging my fat ass to the gym without having to share hot, sweaty air. Geez.

More than I care to mention, I have pulled into motels on the road late at night, parked as far away as I can by myself, only to find in the morning, some other fool as parked so close to me that I can't open my door without dinging his car. And yes, there are many empty parking spaces on both sides of our coupled vehicles.

You're just hot and these folks want to get to know you. As a guy - and SUCH a guy - I never have to worry about people picking the seat/equipment/city block next to me, unless they have no other choice. Then they lean away as much as possible. It would be really annoying if it happened, but it just doesn't - and no one ever seems to want to go to the same movies I do, so I often am one of 5 folks in the theater. I can kill the buzz on ANY movie. You might think I am lucky, but since I will probabluy never have human interaction again in this life or the next, I can discern a downside.

TQ: they park next to you because you're Pontiac Excitement and can't help themselves!

Laoch: isn't there a post script about Alabama in that quote?

David: nay on the hotness, but I'm wondering if I should cut out the pre-gym shower. Sweat and more curry in my diet may give me some space! And I read what you write, but all I see know is you never have to share popcorn!

dbs: too bad I didn't know about the Hogmanay earlier...

While watching the Zombie show "The Walking Dead" I find myself fantasizing about being the only person left on the planet...

My theory is that humans, for most of their history, evolved in the tribe. Most of us feel more comfortable in the tribe...except for those few who need space!D
