Typecast

I'm fascinated with hoarders, and can't help but notice similarities between us: older, white women with a lot of cats. I'm oldish, white, and have taken in nineteen cats since my divorce in 2004. Technically only an average of 2.3 per year, but perhaps gaining status as crazy cat lady is a preliminary step?

Anxious to change gears, I threw away all my favorite things (including that awesome Eddie Bauer goose down comforter - why?) and took in a homeless, abandoned border collie. She  was lonely and needed her own puppy (you can't teach old cats new tricks, afterall), but I'm drawing the line there.

Two cats, two dogs, and maybe I could just replace some of my stuff.

One can never have enough pets.

That border collie sure has good taste when it comes to picking his own little pet! He is going to need the help to herd the cattle when you get that little farm, eh?

Laoch: I'm pretty sure one can. And I have.

TQ: we might have to start them out small, herding giant roaches or chickens. But yeah, aren't they kind of adorable together before they turn into hoodlums.

Colleen: I took your blog to heart yesterday and returned my recent audio purchases. I didn't really need them and potlatch would be the only goal of amassing wealth. Since we haven't scheduled any potlatches this year, it would be premature to collect matter as this early date.

TQ: I really wouldn't recommend this kind of behaviour in the future. There's something comforting about old sentimental crap/music/furniture.

I too am a stereotype...librarian who loves cats. Took on a second one recently,a handsome male with all his equipment intact, totally a "dude" personality. Sadly he disappeard this week. I'm holding the line at dogs as I live with 3 kids, one a newborn! Dee L

Dee: I try to be optimistic when cats disappear - I had a male feral cat once, drugged him and got him fixed, but he'd still disappear for months at a time. You've gotta respect their independence and grit. I hope yours shows back up.

I always think of you as a photographer. Books, photos and cats - what else is there?! Add popcorn, and I'd never leave the house.

Yes I drew the line as well. That was 2 dogs and 3 cats ago.

I'm with Laoch! Besides my 15 cats, golden retriever, and red eared slider, don't seem like that many... except at bed time and everyone decides they want to snuggle. Ever had a dream that your confined to a tiny little space and if you move you will receive pain? lol Yeah, me neither...
I tried fostering a few dogs. It was very difficult. I found them really good homes, but I cried when it was time to let them go... sigh!

Girl! An Eddie Bauer goose down comforter and you got rid of it??? I need to send you my address and be your personal "receiver of all wonderful things that Colleen doesn't want!" BIG HUGS, Steph
